The Incident
Taking place on April 23, 2023, the 4/23 incident was a mass false report on more than half the moderation team. The incident, lasting over 2 days, caused the server to be temporarily shut down, implementing slowmode in every channel, and having some Reddit Mods switch over, even with a few retired mods, remoderating for a short period of time.
The Aftermath
A statement from the (Now Retired) Reddit Team Leader Saturn, included “About 12-14 hours ago a user mass reported our mod team. The mods had made jokes about being underage (which isn’t true, as we have verified their age internally). Discord began suspending our moderators including the (former) Discord Team Leader Felix for these jokes. Which has caused the mess we’re in now.”
As mentioned above, several retired mods stepped up to assist the struggling mod team. Vilhu, Sol, Meow and Moth were all remodded temporarily to help control the server while the banned mods tried to get their accounts back. A few reddit mods were also temporarily transferred to the discord mod team, those mods being Level, Meowzers and Josh.
After a day, some of the banned mods began to receive their accounts back, with everything returning to normal in time for new mods to be announced on the 29th of April.
